It is notdeniable that people’s daily lives have been greatly changed by theadvertisements that can be overwhelmingly seen almost everywhere. And more andmore customers take a positive attitude towards advertising that plays animperative part in making them aware of the worth of the product or service. But it is inevitable that some advertisement may exert negative impact on us. Therefore,I believe that we should keep a clear mind of all the advertisements.

In our dailylife, a vast majority of people have enjoyed the advantages and the conveniencethat advertisements have brought about to them. This is in agreement with thePerspective One which acknowledges that advertisements can help individualsmake correct consumption decisions. Surrounded by an overwhelming variety ofgoods, consumers really need a helpful counselor who can tell them which onesare really useful and where they can be bought. Thus in result, advertisingserves as the best helper in making people well aware and constantly informed ofthe new products available in the market. This not only enriches theirknowledge about the latest innovations in many fields, but also lets them knowthe differences among various products easily via advertisements. Thereforegood advertisements can guide us in finding suitable goods and services that weneed as well as save us the time and money we may spend finding information ofnew products if there were no advertisements.

However, itshould be noted that advertisements may also have negative influences on ourdaily lives by way of, for example, misleading customers to make irrationaldecisions just as the Perspective Three states. Obviously, deceptive anddramatized advertising may create a non-existent need and unrealisticexpectations among consumers, which can be attributed to the fact that theadvertisers exaggerate the benefits of the merchandise they want to sell inorder to gain more profits. In such circumstance, those who fail to have asober mind are more prone to become a sacrifice to such advertising, irrationally buying unnecessary goods and wasting their money. This is why I firmlyapprove of the Perspective Two which advocates that customers should be more sensibleto make clear and prudent judgments about the information of advertisements.First and foremost, a clear mind can never tend to misinterpret the messagesconveyed in ads and correctly distinguish between the correct and misleadinginformation in advertisements. Besides, since we live in an era of informationexplosion and advertising is an important component of this, we should not bebrainwashed by various advertisements and blindly follow the consumption trendwhich often turns out to be insufficient in meeting our needs. More recentresearch has demonstrated that more than a half of advertising today isspinning out of control, while the public is still being forced to watch, listen or view. An empirical example has confirmed that while on their dailyjourney to work or school, people are unable to ignore those posters, bannersor someone who is trying to sell or inform them of something. In suchcircumstance, a sensible person clearly know his different consumption needsfrom others so that he cannot simply follow the shopping trend or the adsinformation blindly. So only those with clear minds can effectively filterthose useless information.

In conclusion, the impact of advertising on society and our daily lives is a highly controversialtopic. Although advertisements can help consumers find new and useful productinformation, it still cannot be neglected that the modern society is inundatedwith too much advertising than we actually need and there are countless casesthat advertisements have been enticing us to make irrational choices. Hence forthis reason, a clear mind and a rational consumption sense are what it takes toresist the superfluous temptation and see through deceiving exteriors of thetremendous advertisements that could exert potential negative effects.
