GRE填空中同义重复分为两类，直接重复和间接重复。其中直接重复关系，其又分为四种：并列关系，因果关系，目的方式手段，递进关系。

　　—、并列关系 特征词：and， also，as well as, both…and…, or, not only…but also…

　　例1 The new biological psychiatry does not deny the contributing role of psychological factors in mental illnesses, but posits that these factors may act as a catalyst on existing physiological conditions and ______such illnesses.
