  考题回忆:总论点thistle(一种入侵俄罗斯的植物,蓟草)到底有害还是有益

The author of the reading contends that the thistle, an invading species in Russia, are beneficial for environment while the presenter of the listening objects the view and he claims the plant is actually detrimental.

First, the writer mentions that the plant can serve as food for local animals. However, the speaker points out that the thistle can absorb toxic substance which can accumulate in animals’ bodies and eventually poisons the animals to death.

Moreover, according to the reading passage, thistles grass is ideal habitats for some organisms. Nevertheless, the professor argues that other organisms already have their habitats. Moreover, the plant is quite flammable so that with the help of wind, the fire sometimes can eliminate the thistle grass along with other suitable habitats.

Last, it can be concluded from the reading that the thistle is good for other plants for the fungus it contains. On the contrary, the presenter holds the opinion that the fungus can only stay in the upper parts of the soil which means it is barely helpful for local plants. On top of that, the thistle can absorb much water so dehydrating the soil. Therefore, when the wind blows over, fungus and soil will be blown away together, bringing harm to local fauna.

When you are deciding which of the two places to visit, should you

  1. Discuss with someone who has visited the two places.

  2. Read online

Which one influences you most when you make a major purchase:

-Recommendations from your friends or colleagues

  -Information from medias(TV、newspaper、magazine...)

  -Salesman in the market

Travelling has become one of the prevalent ways for modern people to unwind and broaden horizon. However, sometimes, determining the travelling destination might perplex a lot of people. To tackle this problem, some propose that we had better ask opinions from friends who have been there before. Nevertheless, searching information online, as far as I am concerned, is a better choice.

To begin with, it is more convenient for us to obtain information via the Internet. Admittedly, gaining the first-hand experience from friends who have been to the places is valuable, especially when we are struggled with two places, like Japan or Korea. Nonetheless, people in the competitive society are overwhelmed by tons of tasks, like work, taking care of children or parents. Thus, it is difficult for us to make an appointment with our friends, enjoy a palatable dinner and leisurely talk about the people they meet or food they have in the tour. On the other hand, we can search information online at any time and any place without bothering others. It is just like that we can check the weather, currency or discounted air tickets on our way to work or read some posts in the tourist forum before going to bed. Thanks to the convenience brought by the Internet, making a sophisticated travelling plan no longer depends on the information from people.

Furthermore, a variety of information is available on the Internet, leading to a more suitable choice for us. Travelling, to some extent, is a personal issue. That means people may have divergent preferences while deciding where to go. Some of us are keen to natural scenes, while others may keep an eye on the culture or custom of an exotic town. In this sense, the information from the limited group of people who we can reach may be too subjective to be referred, while the diverse information on the Internet is able to fill in the gap and assist us to make a proper choice. For instance, when I intended to take a trip in the coming September, I was hesitating between Vietnam and Thailand. My friend Alice, who has been to both places, highly recommended Thailand due to her fascination with spicy food and water sports. However, I do not put these factors as my priorities when I take a trip. Instead, when I browsed the tourist forum, a handful of posts about the building of French colonial period, the prestigious coffee and pine woods in Da Lat, a southern city in Vietnam, appealed me a lot. Thus, spending some time in collecting information online and gaining the advice from a far greater range of the Internet users or official websites are more likely to help us make wise choice.

Admittedly, the information online might be exploded and some of them may be posted by buzzers hired by companies to promote their products and exaggerate the benefits of one place. However, crossing-check the information from various resources can avoid such problems. Thus, considering the limited time of our friends and the possibility of being misled by personal views, I firmly believe that reading online is a more practical and effective strategy.
