美国大学本科留学申请CommonApp官网公布了2016-2017年美国大学本科申请essay题目，和2015-2016年的相同。据CommonApp统计，2015-2016年，80万人其中47%的学生文书写的是关于自己的背景、身份、兴趣爱好，即第一个essay题目是选择最多的;有22%的申请人选择了第5个题目，写自己的成就;17%的申请人选择第二个题目，写经历过的失败;10%选择第4个题目，写了自己解决的某个问题;剩下4%写的是第三个题目(about an idea challenged )。下面我们就来看看这些文书题目。

　　1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.对有的人来说，背景、身份、心情或才能是如此重要。如果没有这些，这个人的申请就不能算是完整。如果你也有同感，请和我们分享你的故事。

　　2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?失败是成功之母。讲述你的一次失败的经历，并说明这次失败怎样影响你，你从这次失败中学会了什么。

　　3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?请回忆一次你挑战某种观点或信念的经历。是什么促使你这么做?如果再给你一次机会重新选择，你是否仍然会这么做?

　　4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.请描述你解决过或者希望解决的一个难题。这个难题可以是智力挑战、研究问题或是道德问题，范围不限。请解释它对你的重要性，你解决问题采取的措施或者找出解决方案。
